Throwback to our “We Are Makers” launch event held at the Chaffey College Center for the Arts on Thursday, May 4, 2017. It was a wonderful day seeing and learning about the incredible things made by Chaffey College students, staff, faculty, and community members from across the curriculum.
The participation of the Schools of Business & Applied Technology, Visual & Performing Arts, and Math & Science made the event a great success and demonstrated the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in STEAM education. There was a great mix of participants giving demonstrations, conducting hands-on activities, sharing their latest creations, and providing information on opportunities to get involved and be a maker! It generated excitement among student makers, introduced new people to the maker movement, and started building the college’s interdisciplinary community.
It was a fun day of making with Engineering & Drafting demonstrating 3D modeling, Computer Science & CIS, Commercial Music students playing their music compositions, Technical Theatre illuminating the room with stage projections and costume displays, Photography, Ceramics, Broadcasting & Cinema, the Illustration Club demonstrating screen printing, the Engineering Club sharing their airplane design, (U)ntitled Art Club, Game Development Club, Computer Science Club, alumnus Bob Hurton making relief prints, the InTech Center demonstrating 3D printing, the Filmmaking Club documenting the event with this excellent highlight promo (VIDEO), and The Arts Area conducting a visitor survey.
