Tahoe Truckee Faculty Maker in Residence Integrates Technology Into 2D Design Class

Sierra College Faculty Maker Charlotte Semmes is using the Truckee Roundhouse community makerspace (www.truckeeroundhouse.org) to learn how to use the laser cutter in order to design and integrate a project into her 2-D design class.  Assisting Prof. Semmes is Zoe Blythe, a Student Maker in Residence.  Funded by the Sierra Makerspaces initiative and employed by the Sierra Business Council, Zoe is being trained on equipment at the Truckee Roundhouse so that she can assist both faculty and students.  Zoe will be assisting Charlotte’s class with completion of their projects.

Charlotte and Zoe recently hosted Sierra Jt. CCD Tahoe Truckee Trustee Paul Bancroft on a tour.  The Roundhouse is a non-profit makerspace that supports the teaching, learning, and practicing of a wide variety of crafts, skills, technologies, and arts in the Truckee-Tahoe community.
