Student Outreach – Spreading Love and Popping Breakers

Sierra Makerspaces founding student leader, recent graduate, and now Sierra Makerspaces trainer, conducted a Valentines student outreach event at the Rocklin campus library.  Students had the opportunity to see the laser cutter in action, meet Heather (an accomplished creative and talented maker) and learn about the value of joining Hacker Lab Powered by Sierra College.  Starting on the south side of the Library entry doors, the laser cutter blew a circuit that affected floors 1-3!  Wow.  Once back on track, the Dean of the Library noted that students were lined up to get their sweetheart a memento.  This is the first time the project has taken the laser cutter out to the library – we wanted to see what the student reaction would be!  Heather would like to do this again – next time over at the Art Building.
