Sierra Makerspaces trains high school robotics team in the makerspace

Sierra Makerspaces coaches and trainers, Steve Hunter and Ray Atnip, conducted training for members of the Placer Area Robotics Team (PART) on May 8 at Hacker Lab powered by Sierra College.  The team recently joined as Hacker Lab members in order to have a consistent build space, access to tools and to the Maker community.  The Sierra College Robotics Club also meets at the makerspace to build their 1-pound and 3-pound competitive robots, and keeps the arena in the space in which to practice and hold community events.

Steve said, “All students and the adviser were trained on the manual lathe and laser and signed off for use in the makerspace. We will continue to serve as a resource for the team, providing technical assistance and support for machining and fabrication.”
