On Friday, May 11th & Saturday, May 12th Sierra Makerspaces held our second internship training at Hacker Lab Powered by Sierra College. Twenty-five students attended the trainings which consisted of three New World of Work modules; a resume, LinkedIn, & Portfolio workshop; on-boarding into the career catalyst system; introduction to CorelDraw for Laser; safety and basic use of our Universal Laser System; introduction to Cura for the Ultimaker 2+ & 3; & safety and basic use of the Ultimaker 2+ & 3. In order to elevate the LinkedIn profiles of our interns we worked with our photography department and Professor Kirkman Amyx to ensure that every student has a professional headshot. This provided a great opportunity for Kirkman’s students to practice the skills he’s been teaching them all semester. A huge thank you to Kirkman and his students: Vicky Yoon, Tera Rose Zuniga Miller, Roy Webster, Michelle Irwin, Birton Gilbert, John Capizzano, and Tyler Madigan. We’re now working on placing each student in a relevant internship and look forward to sharing the headshots when we recieve the final proofs.
