On March 16, 80 Mathematics professors from the Central Valley and Northern California participated in a professional development conference at Sierra College. The Sacramento Valley Community College Mathematics Conference attendees conducted meetings at the Rocklin campus until noon, and then traveled to Hacker Lab powered by Sierra College to enjoy a working lunch with a presentation on Making Across the Curriculum by Zack Dowell (Folsom Lake College Innovation Center), and then experiencing seven maker stations managed by the Sierra Makerspaaces team. Stations included Virtual Reality, customization of a Right Angle Tool, exploration of 2D to 3D modeling, fabrication of metal bracelets, assembly and customization of Pi earrings and key chains, math-themed buttons, and custom-etched water bottles.
