The IE Accelerator held its first community engagement class on Saturday, May 5th, just in time for Mother’s Day! Over 15 people joined us for our first free class offered to members of the community to help promote the IE Accelerator and get individuals inside and outside of the college engaged in our initial programming.
Participants learned to use online design software for creating vinyl projects with the Cricut smart cutters. In anticipation of Mother’s Day, participants designed mugs with personalized vinyl designs for mom as well as handmade cards. This was a good opportunity to involve the community and teach them new skills. It was also great to be able to show people who are not as familiar with our college the current and upcoming technology that they will be able to access for their own projects and entrepreneurial endeavors.
For our first community class, we were really pleased with the turnout. Ages of participants ranged from 5 to adult. We hope to incorporate the 3D printers into our next community class!
