This was one of the early videos produced by Sacramento City College describing how the college used CCC Maker grant funding to build community and create a makerspace on campus. Students, faculty and staff share what makes them excited about the space and community that has evolved. Tom Cappelletti, lead faculty for the makerspace project, explains the value of getting a makerspace up quickly and then iterating the space as the community evolves. Listen to makers describe what the interdisciplinary space where they “Show up, Say Yes, & Break from Traditional classroom” means to them.

Michelle Zamora, Sacramento City College student maker and makerspace team member produced this video. Soon afterwards, Sierra College engaged her to make a similar video about its community makerspace partnerships. To demonstrate the diversity of makerspaces across the California Community College network, in 2019 CCC Maker asked Zamora to produce five other videos about CCC maker colleges: Butte College, Cabrillo College, City College of San Francisco, Folsom Lake College and Orange Coast Makerspace Network. As a newly minted entrepreneur, she is a testament to the opportunities that rise out of makerspaces for community college students.
